UK Innovation Corridor member, Huntingdonshire District Council hosted an event on 29th October in the House of Commons, putting its growth, innovation, and investment strategy into the spotlight for all to see.
Huntingdonshire has a growing reputation as a hub for innovation, investment, and defence collaboration. The event put that centre stage, and together senior representatives from local and central government, the Ministry of Defence, and leading business organisations who all championed Huntingdonshire’s potential, including within the UK Innovation Corridor, with a strong focus on its emerging role in the national defence and innovation worlds.
Among the key speakers were Ben Obese-Jecty MP, Armed Forces Minister Al Carns MP, Major General Matthew Jones, Charlotte Horobin (CEO, Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce), Councillor Sarah Conboy (Executive Leader, HDC), and Michelle Sacks (Chief Executive, HDC).
All highlighted Huntingdonshire’s potential to play a big role in the defence sector, particularly in light of the recently published Strategic Defence Review, and the Defence Industrial Strategy, which offer opportunities for British business.
On the event, the Chair of the UK Innovation Corridor, Jackie Sadek, said:
“I’d like to congratulate Huntingdonshire District Council for pulling together such a high-class event.
The quality of the speakers, and the cross-party nature of the discussions shows they have a commitment to collaboration and an ambition to drive growth across the wider region, which the Innovation Corridor very much in favour of.
We will play our part in supporting the the Huntingdonshire District Council team moving forwards.”
Building on the success of the House of Commons showcase, HDC plans further engagement events in 2026 to deepen relationships with government, industry and investors, which the Innovation Corridor will continue to support.
