Stansted Airport is a key gateway within the UK Innovation Corridor, serving as one of London’s major international airports. Established in 1943 and located in Essex, Stansted has grown to become a vital hub for global connectivity, handling millions of passengers annually. Recognized for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, the airport has undertaken numerous expansion and modernisation projects, including the transformation of its terminal facilities and the development of cutting-edge cargo infrastructure. Current projects include a £150 million arrivals terminal, designed to enhance passenger experience and streamline operations, as well as initiatives aimed at achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2038.
Willmott Dixon is a strategic partner of the UK Innovation Corridor. Hitchin based Willmott Dixon, established in 1852, has its roots in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, local to the region. A recent King’s Awards for Enterprise winner for sustainable development, the company has completed numerous projects in the region, including educational projects such as the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy for the University of Cambridge and the European Bioinformatics Institute, Cambridge. Current projects include building a new head office for Hertfordshire Constabulary in Welwyn Garden City as well as a number of mixed-use regeneration developments in London.
